A second generation jeweller, John has been in the trade for over 50 years. A very creative and accomplished bench jeweller, he is also a registered jewellery valuer and diamond grader (NCJV) and qualified gemmologist (FGAA).
John has an extensive knowledge of antique jewellery and coloured stones and a strong commitment to the art of handmade jewellery. Having inherited many of his tools from his father, the workshop comprises of tools that have been used for over 80 years, as well as newer, cutting edge technology in jewellery making including laser welding. This brings together the old and the new to create timeless works of art.
Daughter of John, Kate is a third generation jeweller. She has been involved in the trade since she was a young girl, her memories date back to joining father at his workshop in Little Collins Street and playing ‘shop keepers’ with her sister. In more recent years Kate’s formal training has seen her take a big leap from her days in Urban Planning and Law to undertake a jewellery apprenticeship where she has found her creative love in being on the bench and working with clients in progressing their work. She undertook a Gemmology Diploma being awarded the Julia Myers Award for the best practical paper in Australia and the Howard J Lem Memorial Prize for the best practical paper in Victoria.
